Miami Beach Christmas Events - Boat Parade 2010

Miami Beach events are already off to a good start for the upcoming holidays. The first Holiday Boat Parade was held in 1998. It was started by the Miami Outboard Club and has over the past 12 years attracted an increasing number of participants. The event has attracted over 70 boats in the last several years and 100 are expected to participate in this year’s Miami Beach events.

The City of Miami hosts the Boat Parade as a part of the Holiday Magic celebrations and the parade benefits the children of Centro Mater Child Care Services. This is a non-profit organization that provides services to children from infants to 6th grade, including after-school services.

The Miami Beach events this year will allow residents and visitors alike several locations from which they can watch the boat parade. The starting point is the Miami Outboard Club, heading toward Miami Beach, it will pass Monument Island, crossing under the Macarthur Causeway and continuing along Government Cut. The parade will pass several good spots for watching the event when it passes Bayside, Bay Front Park and the Miami Children’s Museum.

Turning at Brickell Key it will pass the park and Bayside again as well as the American Airlines Arena. Heading back to the Miami Outboard club it will go under the Causeway again and pass the Miami Yacht Club and Jungle Island. The fun doesn’t end there. After the parade, Miami Beach events will include a Dance Party hosted by the club for those who participated in the parade as well as their family, guests and the general public. There will be prizes during this event for the best-decorated boats in many categories.

Participation is increasing and the hope is that it will continue to do so. There are many sponsors who make the boat parade possible. From the U.S. Coast Guard to the Miami-Dade Marine Patrol, the City of Miami Beach Police Department as well as the City of Miami Police Department, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and private and corporate sponsors, the support received is bound to make it a success as one of the largest Miami Beach events of its type in Florida.
