For those unfamiliar with Miami Beach and its many private islands, Miami Beach is located on a barrier island which reaches up the eastern coast of Florida. In between the barrier island and the Miami mainland are dozens of private islands, some of which are manmade, situated in the calm waters of Biscayne Bay. Some islands have greater name recognition than others: Star Island, Fisher Island and Indian Creek are extremely well known while some of the Venetian Islands, Sunset Islands and more remain lesser known. Of course, the fact that they aren’t as well known, does not decrease their quality – in fact almost all Miami Beach private islands have an exquisitely high level of luxury living.
Star Island, Fisher Island and Indian Creek all have name recognition because of their popular residents and world-class Miami Beach homes. Star Island has been the residence of choice for celebrities and other high-profile figures. It also features gate guarded access and impressively large lots for a Miami Beach private island. Fisher Island is largely made up of condos and is only accessible by ferry, private boat or helicopter enhancing its already high levels of privacy. Indian Creek is a wonderful private island with large golf course, immense waterfront homes and high-levels of privacy.
The three islands listed above may get a lot of attention from luxury buyers, but are not the only high-quality Miami Beach private islands. The Venetian Islands, located on the Venetian Causeway, consist of islands with different residential types: condos, homes and townhomes. Venetian islands include San Marino Island, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island, Biscayne Island and more. The Sunset Islands are four islands just north of the Venetian Islands on the west coast of Miami Beach. Other islands to consider include Palm Island, North Bay Village, La Gorce, Normandy Isle and Normandy Shores.
