5 Tips to Get Your Home Ready For Fall

Tip #1: Clean out your closet-The time has come to reassess your wardrobe and make space for some new pieces. A thorough closet cleaning process includes removing everything from your closet and dresser, placing every item on your bed, selecting which ones you would like to keep and putting them away, and separating the ones that you haven’t worn in months or even years to be donated. Although it can be quite difficult for many people to let go of their belongings, getting honest with yourself and giving away the things you no longer wear to someone who truly needs them is incredibly rewarding. Plus, you get to make way for new autumn clothes to come in!

Tip #2: Deep clean your kitchen-The place where you cook and eat should arguably be one of the most hygienic in your home, yet often times it’s not. Take the time to thoroughly deep clean your kitchen and make it sparkle and shine. Clean inside and behind appliances, countertops, sinks, and the floor to leave your kitchen looking brand new. Go the extra step and clean out your pantry, getting rid of anything that has already expired and organize your food so that it’s all neat and visible. Be sure to use safe cleaning products, especially if you have children or pets.

Tip #3: Declutter and organize your spaces-Once you’ve made progress with your closet and your kitchen, it’s time to take a good look at the rest of your home. Go room by room and throw away any built up junk, donate things you don’t use anymore, and organize everything that you’re left with. Try rearranging the furniture or turning an unused space into a hobby room, just have fun with it. Nothing makes you feel like a new season has arrived more than having a clean, orderly home that makes you feel happy and energized!

Tip #4: Change up your décor-Now that summer has passed, fall is here and it’s time to make your home look the part. Fall is all about warm earth tones, pumpkins, pinecones, and Thanksgiving! While in South Florida we have warm weather year-round, it’s still a great idea to have a somewhat seasonal rotation in your decorating scheme. Easy accessories to update are throw pillows, holiday accessories or coffee table books, inexpensive flower vases with fall colored flowers, branches, and leaves, and duvet covers and shams. Switching up your décor for a new fall look will also bring a cozy, festive energy to your home!

Tip #5: Repair things that need maintenance-A new season signifies a new beginning. It’s time to finally get around to fixing the things that need repair around your home, both big and small. Start off by assessing everything that needs maintenance and make a list to help you keep track. The truth is that things break all the time and fall is a prefect occasion to repair them since the weather is starting to cool down. Think squeaky doors, leaky faucets, or faulty A/C units. It’s a great idea to fix these things now so you can enjoy the best season in Miami hassle-free!
