Within the island, residents go around by driving their own vehicle or a golf cart. Some residents prefer to travel via private helicopter parked on Vanderbilt’s former landing spot or at the soccer field.

The historic Vanderbilt Mansion is the island’s famous landmark. It was built by William Vanderbilt, the man who bought Fisher Island, in the 1930s. Aside from being just a landmark, it can be rented as a wedding venue.

A few steps from the mansion is The Beach Club. This poolside retreat hosts themed events such as French Bistro Night, Full Moon parties, Seafood Night, Clambakes, and Sunday Jazz Brunch.

The tennis courts at Fisher Island are ranked number 1 in the East Coast by Tennis magazine. There are 18 courts with three types of playing surfaces.
